With ocean clean-up being such a hot topic right now, what about land clean-up? RTA takes pride in customer satisfaction, and that includes keeping our rail tracks and right-of-way clean. We had the opportunity to sit down with Teresa Muti, Manager of Power and Way, who also organizes rail clean-ups on the Red, Blue, and Green Lines. These clean-ups include trash pick-up and removal, graffiti removal, tire disposal, and much more. The track department's hard work helps to keep Cleveland beautiful!
Part of our mission here at RTA is to provide a clean and safe ride to your destination. This includes conducting a massive right-of-way clean-up 2-3 times throughout the year to dispose of trash you see on the ground during your ride. We love our city and want to inspire others to keep our environment clean.
By being mindful of how you dispose of your trash, you are not only making your ride more enjoyable and scenic, but you're also helping our environment and wildlife to thrive. Trash ends up negatively impacting our environment by creating air pollution, contamination, and soil absorbing substances which ends up in the water. Many times when trash is illegally disposed of, it is unknown what kinds of substances can be lurking in those items. For example, you don't necessarily know if there is something living in the couch that was thrown over the hillside, or if there are needles in a bag of trash. This is an unfortunate reality for our dedicated employees who may come in contact with these potentially dangerous items. Please consider going green by using biodegradeable products, clean energy, and properly disposing of waste.
