Ismael Flores, DEI Program Administrator at Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA), was honored at the Ohio LGBTQ+ Unity Summit on Friday, June 9, 2023. Ismael received the LGBTQ+ Ally Award. The prestigious award recognizes Ismael's exemplary advocacy and inclusivity efforts toward the LGBTQ+ community at his workplace and beyond. As the DEI Program Administrator, Ismael plays a role in designing and executing innovative programs and curriculums to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion at GCRTA. In addition, he actively engages with employee resource groups (ERGs) to foster a supportive and inclusive workplace culture for all. For Ismael, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights is more than just a job - it's a passion. He firmly believes that everyone deserves a "seat at the table," and their concerns and opinions must be heard regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, religion, and any other factors. His unwavering dedication is what makes him an ally of the LGBTQ+ community.

Before joining GCRTA, Flores worked as a Senior Inclusion and Diversity Strategist and Manager of Employee Business Resource Groups at MetroHealth (Hospital) Systems. Through tireless efforts, he ensures that all employees feel valued, respected, and included in the workplace, creating an environment of harmony and positivity. Ismael's achievements are a testament to his remarkable leadership skills and unwavering commitment to fostering inclusivity, diversity, and equity. He continues to create a more inclusive society for everyone. It is important to garter allyship and the need to stand in solidarity with marginalized communities.
